THANKS WAYNEDALE
On November 25, I saw the community of Waynedale and the surrounding communities come together in a cancer benefit for Joe Zuber. It brought to mind the two quotes, “Love thy neighbor” and “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
These two things were witnessed by myself, a member of both the American Legion and the Women’s Auxiliary. The Auxiliary was the coordinator of this heart-warming event with the assistance of the Legion, SAL and friends. The event was held at American Legion Post #241 and the live entertainment was provided by “Always Broke” who donated the music as a love token. Everyone at the event was in the spirit of the cause.
The food served was like a second Thanksgiving. There were all types of meat, salads, desserts and veggies. Many games were played by the patrons, and the prizes were donated by businesses and local residents.
Joe and Teresa Zuber were presented with a check for $9,000.00 by President of the Auxiliary, Diana Marx, and the Commander of the American Legion, Tom Mallott.
Hats off to the American Legion and the other two units of Post #241. I feel proud to be a member of such a wonderful community.
