THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT

I SURVIVED “THE GREAT BOOM”

I many times have stated that people do not read history during the period that they lived. So many people get very much involved in the Civil War. I intended to change my opinion and picked up the book “The Great Boom” 1950-2000 by Robert Sobel, “How a Generation of Americans Created the World’s Most Prosperous Society.”

A great book and you remember many facts about this era after you have been reminded. The amazing fact in this book is many experts including Max Lehner was predicting a bad recession after WWII.

They based this on the fact that 10,000,000 people coming out of the service and 5,000,000 woman who will not want to work after the war will cause a very bad depression that most of those remember.

I worked during “The Great Boom” 1950-1989 with no problems with employment. I never worried that experts might tell me I was in for some serious employment problems. I guess I always believed in our capitalistic form of government.

I may have more to say about this book later on.

That’s The Way I Saw It, “How a Generation of Americans Created the World’s Most Prosperous Society.”
