MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR 110-YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATING THE PARKS & REC DEPARTMENT – Message From The Mayor

Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll and I recently announced that the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the 110th anniversary of the Park System with a free, community party in Headwaters Park East on Tuesday, July 28 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Our world-class park system makes us unique and it’s one of the reasons why the quality of life in Fort Wayne continues to impress everyone. I’m looking forward to celebrating the 110th anniversary with numerous events that our entire community can enjoy.

Here are some of the highlights of the July 28th celebration:

Free hot dogs, chips, water and cupcakes, while supply lasts. Trek the Trails ride at 6 p.m. Carnival Games, Inflatables, Horse-drawn wagon rides, Face painting, Fire Department, SWAT, & K9 Team appearances

Entertainment Stage with Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, youth center performances and at 7:15 p.m., the band Trichotomous Hippopotamus will perform.

Along with the fun and games, the Parks & Recreation Department will give away 110 tickets to the Bel Airs and B45’s concert and to the Bulldogs concert, a Family Golf Membership, a Family Swim Membership, a free week at Salomon’s Farmin’ Fun Camp and Franke Park Day Camp, a Botanical Conservatory Family Membership, a Hurshtown Reservoir Membership and a trip for two to the Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, OH.

The 110-year celebration will last throughout the summer with special $1.10 admissions to the following:

Sunday, May 31 after 2 p.m. play 9 holes of golf at Foster, McMillen or Shoaff golf courses (Cart not included)

Friday, June 12 12:30-5 p.m. Swim at Memorial Pool
$1.10 per person

Thursday, June 18 5-8 p.m.
$1.10 night at Conservatory

Friday, June 26 12:30-5 p.m. Swim at Northside Pool
$1.10 per person

Friday, July 10 1:30-7 p.m.
Swim at McMillen Pool
$1.10 per person

Saturday, July 25
7:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
Hurshtown Reservoir
$1.10 per car
