LEGACY FORT WAYNE INITIATIVE – MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

The Legacy Fort Wayne initiative continues to be a tremendous opportunity for our community as we work to provide catalytic investment, leverage additional resources, and directly benefit residents of Fort Wayne.

I wanted to share with you that we’ve produced an updated “Legacy Fact Sheet” that is available at www.legacyfortwayne.org. I would encourage you to visit the website and read about the positive momentum in Fort Wayne.

You’ll learn more about several projects, including:
*Downtown Riverfront Study
*Ewing Street/Fairfield Avenue conversion to two-way traffic
*McMillen Community Center
*Youth Sports Study
*Indiana Tech Academic Center
*Renovation of existing downtown buildings by the University of Saint Francis
*Wells Street Bridge lighting

We’re going to continue to explore projects that assist our City with long-term sustainability, economic development/jobs, and quality of life enhancements. There will be projects that develop that weren’t part of the original Legacy program, but that shows we’re an ideal location for investment. We do pledge that we’ll propose projects that are consistent with the vision of Legacy.

Legacy funds are a valued community asset that will continue to be treasured and protected. Our financial report for Legacy is strong and will continue to grow in the future.
