VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP: THANKFUL

RICHARD A STEVENSONOur Holiday Celebration at the Roller Dome on Bluffton Road last Saturday was a great success. I am very thankful for all the generous persons and businesses that helped out with donations of money and prizes for this important event. My staff made me proud with the outstanding job they did organizing this celebration. And, I was delighted with the awesome crowd who came to have a good time and celebrate the holiday season.

We were able to help many children and families have a happier holiday by sponsoring this outstanding party. Everyone was very excited about the bicycles, roller skates and other prizes we gave away. What a wonderful experience for me and my office to be part of helping children and families have a memorable holiday this year.

Before Thanksgiving, I included in this column statements from several of our employees about things for which they are thankful. I was unable to get in that column all the comments I received from staff. So, I thought using the rest of the comments would be a nice way to wrap up our columns for 2012.

“I am thankful because I am blessed as a grandparent, mother, wife, sister, co-worker, church member and friend. My life is richer because of those who surround me. I am blessed because my God is an awesome God who loves me, protects me and comforts me.” Cindy Mahler, Lead Investigator

“I’m thankful for so many things I don’t know where to start. Most of all I am thankful for JESUS CHRIST who has blessed me abundantly. I am also thankful for the world’s most amazing wife, great family, friends and two dogs.” Michael DePew, Director of Investigations

“He gave me life that I might enjoy all things. I am most recently thankful for the recovery of my stolen vehicle—and especially thankful for my daughter who recovered it.” Terry Mansfield, Accounting

“I am thankful to my Father in Heaven who knows all of our needs. I am thankful for my family and my precious grandbabies. I am thankful for the Wayne Township family. I am truly thankful that God loved me first and that He holds me in his right hand.” Peggy Hayes, Investigator

“I am thankful for my children who tell me jokes such as, “What female is always asked to say the blessing at dinner?” (Answer) Grace. I am thankful for mothers and grandmothers who spend two days cooking and the children ask for pizza instead. The holidays are a time to be happy I am not on a diet and a time to count my health not my wealth. The holidays are a time to count on God instead of myself.” Porsche Williams, Director of Intake

“I have so much to be thankful for–first and foremost, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I am so blessed to be the mother of four and the grandmother of one, and I’m grateful for my parents, family members and friends. Last, but not least, I am so appreciative for my job at Wayne Township and to work and serve with such a diverse group of people.” Patsy Brewer, Executive Secretary

“I am thankful for my wonderful husband, my friends and Waynedale neighbors and my two cousins who are so helpful to me when I need it. I am thankful for my parents, both deceased now, who taught me good character and morals and so many other things that I have carried with me throughout my life. I know it sounds silly, but I also am thankful for my three rescue cats whose purring and antics liven up my day.” Karen Walker, Director of Legal and Media Services

I wish everyone in the Waynedale area a very happy New Year and want to thank The Waynedale News for another outstanding year of printing positive news for our area. Great job, Waynedale News!
