“A CHRISTMAS IN WAYNEDALE”

In this busy time of year, over 500 Waynedalers and visitors to the area relaxed and took time to celebrate the holiday season at “A Christmas In Waynedale.” The community event was held on December 10th, from 4-7p on the corner of Bluffton and Lower Huntington Roads.

The location of the event transformed a vacant car lot in the heart of Waynedale that hadn’t seen much activity in the past 2 years until the decorations began to slowly appear on the building and surrounding streetlights about a week previous to the occasion. The simple act of adding wreaths and ribbon truly transformed what some would call an eyesore into a place of interest and anticipation of the event that was to come.

Around 3:30p the line for Santa Claus began to grow as families waited in the frigid 30 degree sunlight. When the doors opened, more than 50 people were already in line to greet Santa. Guests were treated to free refreshments, friendly holiday mascots, caroling by Lures HS, Wayne HS and Kekionga MS, as well as a trolley tour of nearby neighborhoods and businesses. Many brought personalized ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree that will be used from year to year, which sparkled during the tree lighting ceremony.

“A Christmas In Waynedale” was created and organized by The Waynedale Community Improvement Team to promote community togetherness and an opportunity for neighbors to meet and celebrate the holiday season.
Without the help of the numerous Waynedale businesses, volunteers and individuals, this event would not have been possible. The Waynedale Communty Improvement Team would like to give a special thank you to 5/3 Bank, J.W. Signs, Feuser Heating & Air Conditioning, Scott’s Foods, Copy Solutions, Walgreens, CANI, Broadview Florist, Evans Toyota, Kingston Residence, The Waynedale News, Public Service Credit Union, The Lions Club, Umber’s Do It Best, Azar’s Big Boy, Pizza Hut, Ellison Bakery, Waynedale Bakery, and Subway.
