USF FOOTBALL READY FOR SPRING GAME
University of St. Francis football team has been prepping for its 14th annual Blue-White Spring game, and more importantly the 2011 season. Jim Shields and Keith Busse have been announced as honorary coaches for the game.
Spring practice began on Tuesday, March 29 at the crack of dawn.
According to Donley, Senior Justin Boser and Alex Bierwalter are good prospects for the quarterback position.
There are a number of players returning from the 2010 team that finished 10th in the final NAIA poll, producing a 10-2 season last year. That is, rusher Frank Wolfe III, along with 5 offensive lineman – including first-team All-MSFA guard Corey Cronk and most of the defense.
Recent commitments from area high school recruitment include RB Cody Appenzeller-Homestead, OL Brian Bowers-Bishop Dwenger, WR Akeim Kelsaw-Snider High School, and LB Jordan Presley-Bishop Luers. These talented players will fill the voids confirmed Coach Donley. The Cougars signed at least 23 players.
“The pieces are in place for a successful season,” says Donley. “This is the beginning.”
Spring practice will end with the annual Blue-White intrasquad game on Saturday, April 16. Kickoff will be noon at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium-University of St. Francis campus-Fort Wayne.
