SMARTER FROM THE GROUNDUP

WaterFurnace International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional geothermal systems invited the public to view their facilities on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

WaterFurnace was founded in 1983 by Jim Shields. The first warehouse was located on Speedway Drive. This 120,000 square foot manufacturing company, which is completely heated in the winter and cooled during the summer months by their geothermal technology, is currently headquartered just off of Airport Expressway, on Constitution Way, with Jim Shields’ son Tim, Chairman of the Board.

Creating a positive environmental impact this “green” company works with institutional, commercial, and residential building owners to design heating and cooling systems. Making every effort to conserve energy and practice environmental responsibility, WaterFurnace International, Inc. has exceeded the performance standards for the ENERGY STAR rating and provides tax credits to consumers purchasing units that are eligible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Homeowners can also take advantage of utility rebates and state and local tax incentives making the geothermal system even more affordable.

“The products WaterFurnace builds and promotes are the most environmentally friendly in the world today,” stated John Groulik, Executive Vice President and tour guide. “We also implement a number of positive contributions to the environment right here at our plant and in our community.” John goes on to explain, “…No mercury in any thermostats, all major components in WaterFurnace products can be recycled when the product comes to the end of its life, …we recycle all scrap cardboard, metals, and refrigerants, as well as the wood pallets used in hauling.”

How it works~

The geothermal system taps into free, unlimited energy below the ground using an earth loop-heat exchange system. Taking the temperature from the earth and bringing it into the home in the winter. In the summer time, for cooling, it takes the heat from the house and puts it back into the earth. Virtually for free. Always warm during the winter months and the air conditioning feels naturally cool in summer months. It is reliable and quiet, with no ugly outdoor unit visible, everything is underground.

The system operates by transferring energy through an underground earth loop that is connected to a geothermal heat pump inside the home. In the winter, the system absorbs heat from the ground and transfers it to the home. In summer, the process reverses, collecting heat from the home and transferring it to the ground.

Additional information is available on the company’s website www.waterfurnace.com. WaterFurnace Renewable Energy, Inc. is traded on both Canadian dollars and U. S. dollars on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol WFI for Canadian dollars and WFI.U for U. S. dollars.
