PETS FOR SENIORS
The City of Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is offering a new program to help senior citizens adopt pets from the shelter.
“Pet Partners for Seniors” will cover the cost of the shelter’s pet adoption fee for senior citizens age 62 or older.
The program is made possible through a $1,200 grant from Aging and In Home Services and will be available until the funding is exhausted.
Scientific studies show that pets may help elderly owners live longer, healthier, and more enjoyable lives. Pets provide comfort in a time of need, company in a time of loss, and friendship free of conditions.
For more information about “Pet Partners for Seniors” visit Animal Care & Control located at 3020 Hillegas Road.
The shelter’s adoption hours are Monday through Friday, 12-5PM and until 7PM Wednesdays.
The adoption center is also open 11AM-3PM the first
Saturday of each month.
