WAYNEDALE OUTDOORS Q & A

Dear Ben,

This letter is from Dave Hoffman from Camby, Indiana. Dave’s neighbor is a disabled veteran and has designed a system for disabled fishermen to modify their boats so that they can keep fishing. Thought you might be interested.

Dave,

Welcome home. Just wanted to bring you up to speed on the latest development next door. Nothing much has changed with my back. Still wearing a brace. Neurosurgeon won’t touch my spine, but recommended a morphine pump for the rest of my life, but I declined. Going this Friday to talk to an Ortho surgeon. But for the good news – let’s talk fishing.

Last July, during a government home evaluation, it was suggested that Ranger Boats work with me to design a handicap rail for my Ranger. I drew up a design and worked with Ranger engineering, resulting in a handicap rail being tested in September at Kentucky Lake. I suggested that since this surpassed land ADA requirements, that wouldn’t it be nice to offer it to our returning troops with prosthetic arms and legs. The president of Ranger called me and offered that if I put the team together, Ranger would endorse and totally refurbish my 6-year old boat, as their contribution to a company.

THE FISH’N RAIL was born. We redesigned the prototype to a full production model, now offering rear security rails for guide services, children events, and wheelchair fishermen. My story of the prototype was released in the FLW Outdoors Magazine, March edition. We debuted the Production system at the Bass Master Classic in Alabama. The Bass Master Classic Magazine will be out in a couple of weeks, which includes our production story. We are now offering the system to all boat manufacturers. We have had an offer for a TV commercial, but chose not to due to finances. We’re going to start slowly. Pass the word to your fishing buddies.
