MARKLEBANK IS RECIPIENT OF GOVERNOR’S HALF CENTURY AWARD
MarkleBank was named as a recipient of the Governor’s Half Century Award. The Half Century Award is awarded to select Indiana businesses who have been in business at least fifty years and demonstrate significant community service and involvement.
MarkleBank, then known as the State Bank of Markle, began in 1947 when a group of public-spirited businessmen associated themselves to organize a bank. The bank was authorized for $35,000 in capital and 350 shares of common stock. The first branch was launched in 1987 with branches subsequently opened in 1995, 1999, 2001, 2004, and 2005. The seven locations of MarkleBank are now located in Allen, Grant, Huntington, and Wells Counties.
In 2005, an agreement was reached with the holding company of Grabill Bank to merge the two holding companies into a newly formed holding company, Independent Alliance Banks (IAB). The two banks continue to do business as state-chartered independent community banks. MarkleBank remains committed to independent community banking with local decision-making and excellent customer service that sets it apart from other financial institutions.
