WE’RE OPEN & WE’VE GOT BREAD

(l-r) Lee Ann Cruz and Chris Millhoff hopes you keep buying Aunt Millie’s Bread at their Quimby Village-Bluffton Road location.
In November an announcement was made that Aunt Millie’s, the over 100-year-old commercial breadmaking facility on Pearl Street in Fort Wayne will be closing at the end of March or beginning of April 2018. Due to some confusion, this does not mean that the company will no longer bake bread. Aunt Millie’s has 6 other operations in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan which will remain open and take on that responsibility.

Aunt Millie’s Bakery Outlet here in the Waynedale area, 1912 Bluffton Road, will not be closing their doors, either. “There are no indications that this outlet is closing,” said lead clerk Lee Ann Cruz. “As you can see, the message on our marquee says, We Got Bread!” The Sunbeam breads, donuts, dinner rolls that they typically received from the downtown bakery will still be available. It will simply be trucked in from another location.

Sporting her black logo’d Aunt Millie’s shirt with the saying ‘Got Bread?’ on the back, Lee Ann said, “The Bluffton Road outlet will continue carrying white bread, variety breads, dinner rolls, donuts, cookies, snack cakes, muffins, Amish noodles, chips, popcorn and English muffins at a discounted price.”

The Aunt Millie’s Bluffton Road bakery outlet has been around for about 4 years. They currently have 3 employees; Robin Pennington-store manager, Lee Ann Cruz-lead clerk and Chris Millhoff-clerk. Check out the outlet. They are open 6 days a week-Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. You won’t be disappointed as you are greeted with a bubbly personality as soon as you enter the “not closing” store.
