THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN
The Indiana Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will kicked off its 2013 Northeast Indiana Wayne Man & Woman of the Year competition on February 13, 2013 at Parkview Field to raise money for cancer research and patient services.
Community leaders will compete for the national title of Man & Woman of the Year, an honor surrounded with a great deal of fanfare, including a full-page ad in USA Today. However, the most important reason candidates participate is for families like this year’s Boy & Girl of the Year, Greyson Snyder (3) and Kellcey Nichols (18). Greyson & Kellcey are blood cancer patients and are sources of inspiration for the candidates.
The money raised by candidates over the ten-week period is used by LLS to fund research seeking cures and better therapies, and to provide information and support so that patients have the best possible outcomes throughout their cancer experience.
Every dollar raised counts as one “vote.” The male and female candidates with the most “votes” will be awarded the title of 2013 Man & Woman of the Year at a Grand Finale Gala on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Ceruti’s Diamond Room at Summit Park, and then are entered into the competition for National Man & Woman of the Year.
The Fort Wayne Chapter is honored to announce its Candidates for the Northeast Indiana 2013 Man & Woman of the Year: Corinna Ladd, PNC Bank, Beth Schrader, Imaging Office Systems, Inc., Emily Szaferski, Burt, Blee, Dixon, Sutton & Bloom, LLP, Dr. Mike Parker, Summit Radiology, Todd Smith, TMS Ventures, Inc., and Stan Ziherl, Five Star Distributing.
“The Man & Woman of the Year program is a great way for candidates to network with other influential people in their communities while also helping to bring hope to thousands of blood cancer patients,” said Amy Kwas, the Indiana Chapter’s executive director. “Candidates get to showcase their fundraising and community outreach skills as well as their humanitarianism.”
