HOLIDAY CELEBRATION – VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP

On December 2012, The Wayne Township Trustee Office worked with the community to have a fantastic Holiday Celebration. More than 1000 people came out to join in the fun. I am so proud and happy to say that we will have a Holiday Celebration this year also. No taxpayer dollars were used for last year’s event, and none will be used for this year’s event.

Consider this your invitation to attend the special event: Wayne Township Trustee Richard A Stevenson, Sr. invites you to join the Wayne Township Trustee Office for an afternoon of family fun.

Please join the Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Roller Dome South, 4540 Bluffton Road 46809, 12:00-4:00 p.m. There will be free skating, food, games, prizes, face painting, and dancing; and even a live radio broadcast. Don’t you want to join in on the electric slide or the bunny hop? Skates are limited so bring your own skates if you have them.

You must have a ticket to enter the event. Tickets will be distributed at the Wayne Township Trustee Office, 320 E. Superior Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46803, on a first come first served basis until all gone; on Fridays (11/29/13, 12/06/13 and 12/13/13) 8:30a.m.-11:30 a.m., and Wednesdays (12/04/13 and 12/11/13) 1:00p.m.-3:30 p.m.
The celebration is a collaboration of different members of the community coming together to provide a great time! If you come to the event, please take a look at our donor banner. We greatly appreciate all donations of prizes, time, dollars, and other items. All funds and items received will be used towards the event. If you would like to make a donation towards the 2013 Holiday Donation, please call us and leave a message on our Holiday Celebration Hotline (260) 449-7000 X334. Come out and enjoy a Happy December 14th!

I’d like to take this time to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. If you are looking for a place to dine on Thanksgiving Day, consider the Saint Mary’s Soup Kitchen or the Rescue Mission. These two organizations have served our community through the years, providing great food in humble and warm surroundings. According to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church website, stmarysfw.org, free dinner will be provided for “any and all” at St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen on Thanksgiving Day 11:00 a.m.-1 p.m., with carry outs available 1:00 p.m-1:30 p.m. The location is 1101 South Lafayette Street, 46802. According to the Rescue Mission website, therescuemission.net, the Rescue Mission provides dinner for “all who are hungry”, noon-3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The Rescue Mission is located at 301 W. Superior St., 46802. Keep in mind that dining at St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen and the Rescue Mission is not limited to Thanksgiving Day only. They both serve daily meals to the public.

The St Mary’s Catholic Church website also provides information on the Christmas Food Box Program, which is designed to feed the recipient over the Christmas and New Year Holidays.

You can find additional information on food assistance by going to the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County website, associatedchurches.org and the Community Harvest Food Bank website, chfb.org; or by calling 211.
