KELLY’S SPECIAL PRESENT
This story is about a girl named Kelly. It would be her birthday in two days. Her parents had always had a tradition in the way they celebrated her birthday. She would get the same number or presents, as she was old. And now she was turning ten! She asked for a gift card to Limited-Too, a Jonas Brothers CD, a Miley Cyrus CD, and a ring with her name on it. She only told her parents she wanted four things because Kelly wanted them to surprise her with the other six.
Two days before her birthday she said, “Mom, I want to have my party at, All About Kids.”
“Oh,” said her mother, “I’m afraid that’s far too expensive.”
“Sorry,” Kelly replied with a tear in her eye.
The day before her birthday, she woke up, took a shower, got her nails done, ran errands, came home and played with Marcie, her friend, until 8:00 PM.
“Kelly, it’s time to come in! Tomorrow is your birthday,” called her mother. So, Kelly got settled in, had a cup of hot chocolate and went to bed. When she woke up her mom said, “Happy Birthday, Sweetie! I made your breakfast and your party is today. It’s in one hour, hon. Gather your friends.” So Kelly did and they all circled around the table and sang Happy Birthday. They ate delicious German Chocolate cake, which was Kelly’s favorite.
Kelly noticed that she got nine presents, even though this was her tenth birthday, but she didn’t say anything. Kelly did not know that her friends and mother were going to play a trick on her, so when her mom said, “Kelly, we’re going to your friend Grace’s house.” They all piled in the car, but, they passed Grace’s house without stopping and Kelly said, “Mom! You didn’t stop at Grace’s house!”
“It’s okay Honey. We are meeting Grace somewhere else.” Then her mother turned the car into the parking lot of All About Kids. Everyone started shouting “Happy Birthday, Kelly!” They all had fun. Everyone just laughed and laughed. Kelly said, “This is great. You pulled the best trick in the world.” Then her mother handed her her last present. It was the 10th present. When she opened it, she saw it was a pink cell phone! It was what she had secretly wanted forever! Kelly was so excited because her tenth present was the best present of all.
