SMOKE ON THE WIND
HEAVEN SENT
Just a few short years ago when I was a little boy going to St. Patrick’s School, our teacher said, “Boys and girls, if your mothers and fathers told you that there is a kitty heaven and a doggie heaven, it’s not true because they have no souls.”
I was hurt and mad and I was going to have my say in this matter, at the risk of getting my hands whacked with a steel edge ruler. This is what I said as a little boy, and I still hold it to be my truth:
I rose from my seat and said, “Sister, if there is no kitty or doggie heaven, I don’t want to go. I don’t know a God like that. The God that I know created kitties and doggies, and I have some kitties there with The Creator. They were with me for a time, and then they died.
In my prayers, I felt the hand of God on my shoulder as I knelt, prayed, and cried. He assured me that my kitties were with Him in Heaven, and one day I will also be there with Him and my kitties.
I believe this with all my heart, sore knuckles and all. This is my faith, but if you do not believe as I do, I will not whack you with a ruler. I will pray for you, and I will see you in Paradise – and yes, you can pet my kitties and play with them.
God bless us one and all.
