LOIS GERARDOT FINDS SUCCESS AND SUPPORT AT WAYNEDALE CURVES

Upon meeting Lois Gerardot, you notice how her personality draws you in and you begin exchanging the kind of information you would discuss with a close friend. She has a sense of humor that keeps a room entertained and involved. This is the Lois we have come to love, especially her enthusiasm for the Curves Six Week Weight Loss Program.

“I had gone 3 years without success. I was skeptical, but tried it and it worked!” Lois is now in the class that started in September. “I need the mental boost, it keeps me on track, and I like the reinforcement.” She also strives on being competitive and wants to be the biggest loser€ . Curves weight loss class meets once a week for one hour in the evening. It currently has 11 students some new and some repeating the class. Lois always brings a lot of energy and discussion to the group. Instructors teach the Curves weight loss method but Lois helps others by her experience, her main concern being health related.

Lois discovered she was diabetic in 1997. Since then, she has made strides in getting her weight under control and basically changing her lifestyle. She was able to lose 20 pounds before joining Curves and Lois has lost another 40 pounds bringing her total to 60 pounds along with losing 30 inches in measurements. “Working out on our hydraulic machines helps to keep the muscle toned and for Lois the great part is the social aspect.” This has done a lot for her self-image. She feels like a million bucks-that in itself makes a difference.

After dropping 4 dress sizes Lois doesn’t have to shop in plus sizes any more. Curves is also great for today’s busy woman. Lois keeps a hectic schedule as co-owner of Safeway Driving School. A family business in operation since 1973, her role brought Lois to retire from her career as a bus driver in 1994. “Anytime you have a job where you sit, you have to work out.”

When asking Lois about her eating habits, we found that protein was important due to the diabetes. So chicken and lean meat, vegetables and whole grain are chosen most often. However, Lois does treat herself now and then. “I cheat on ice cream.” “Culver’s turtle sundae is wonderful,” Lois says with a smile. “You have to treat yourself once in a while to stick with anything.” And she has proven that sticking with the Curves program has made a difference.
