I’VE GOTTA CROW!
In this year’s theatrical performance Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Tinker Bell will carry you away to an enchanted Neverland where children never grow up. Yes, it is the classic children’s story Peter Pan that will be performed by St. Therese’s Little Flower Theatre. You will find all the characters: Peter, Wendy, Captain Hook, Lost Boys, Pirates, Tiger Lily and Mermaids of the Lagoon.
Mermaids will swim. Indians drum and dance. It is exciting in Neverland.
And of course, the fairy Tinkerbell is up to her mischievous fun and games!
Aaargh! Villainous pirate Captain Hook played by 8th grade student Tony Carsten, (who previously played Mike in Willie Wonka and Noah in Oliver Twist) said his favorite line is, “Odds, bobs, hammer and tongs.” Which simply means, “Gosh, I am surprised!”
Kayla DeRemer shouts, “I’ve gotta crow!” as she plays the part of Peter Pan, the mischievous nonchalant boy who can fly and magically refuses to grow up.
Wendy Darling is played by Molly Shutt. Following Wendy, and her brothers, John and Michael to Neverland is Liza, Jordan Mooring. The rather spoiled Indian princess Tiger Lily is played by Nadia Dorman.
The gang of Lost Boys interact with mermaids, Indians, fairies, pirates and from time to time children from outside of Neverland.
Everyone has a role in Peter Pan-over 65 students-from St. Therese Catholic School to be exact.
Come to the show and discover who plays Tinkerbell!?
The doors will open at 6:30pm for the production of Peter Pan on the weekend of Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Show time is 7pm with the play staged at University of St. Francis-north campus.
Elaine Cooper has been the producer and director for 13 years. She puts in countless hours and during the “play season” she says her van becomes her mobile external theatre for all the props and items needed from practice to show time.
Behind the scenes the compilation of music is composed with the help of Elaine’s daughter, a junior at Bishop Luers High School, Megan Cooper. She is also the co-director and participates in back-stage crew production along with Jessica Alphin who is on sound crew and assisted by Chris Brown, Courtney DeRemer, Julie Mongold and Eric Perrine. Bob “the builder” Brown worked the set construction along with Andy doing the artwork.
This year the students have decided to dedicate the play to Mrs. Barb Schuhler who passed away last year from cancer. She was a math and music instructor at St. Therese Catholic School.
