THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT

BASEBALL HAS FIXED ITS STEROID PROBLEM?

Most of the newspapers have told us that because of a great deal of serious uniting and sacrifices by the Players Association and management, that they have approved some very strict rules about the use of steroids. Congress may have gotten their attention.

50 game suspension (from 10 days) for first positive test.

100 game suspension (from 30 days) for second positive test.

Lifetime suspension for third positive test, or in other words, third strike and your out!

Why this long? I guess if a team is rained out for four straight days the suspension could last for 54 days. And maybe spring training games do not count.

Many old timers that remember Roger Maris’ season records are wondering what will happen to records hanging on the walls at Cooperstown?

Since the new rules are against steroid use, the new records are tainted. Until baseball corrects these tainted records they have not solved their steroid problem.

And that’s the way many fans see it.
