KAMPFIRE KOOKIN’
Here is a soup that anyone can make and you don’t have to have a chef’s talent to prepare it. All you need is a can opener . . . well almost.
TIN CAN SOUP
2 lbs. hamburger (brown and drain)
1 can of green beans with liquid
1 can of corn with liquid
1 can of peas with liquid
1 can of carrot slices with liquid
1 can of diced potatoes with liquid
1 can of Northern beans with liquid
1 can of butter beans with liquid
1 can of kidney beans with liquid
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of tomato sauce
1 or 2 onions (coarsely chopped)
Garlic powder
Beef bouillon cubes
Salt and pepper to taste.
Put the browned and drained hamburger in a #12 Dutch oven and add all the rest of the ingredients. Season to taste with the garlic powder, bouillon cubes, salt, and pepper. Heat through and serve. Should feed 8 people when served with a salad, bread & butter, fresh or canned fruit, and cookies or a Dutch oven dessert of some kind.
(NOTE: For extra company figure one can of any vegetable with liquid and 1/4 pound of browned/drained meat per person.)
