LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

Just wanted to say what a nice parade!! This is the first parade that I have been to in Waynedale since living here for almost 6 years. You can bet that I will be there next year!

Mary

To all at THE WAYNEDALE NEWS,

I’d like to thank everyone for running a story about the MS Benefit Bass Tournament in the OUTDOORS sections of a June 2002 issue of THE WAYNEDALE NEWS! The Tournament was a success and over $1,500 was raised for MS.

As Chairman of the event, I am in charge of promoting the 2003 Tournament and I would appreciate it if you would run an announcement in your June/July WAYNEDALE WOODS AND WATERS GREAT OUTDOORS section for this year’s Tournament.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU,

Matthew Haddix

Dear Editor,

There are a lot of good people in this world and so many times praise is not acknowledged. My husband and I were in an accident on Baer Road, Tuesday, January 28th and we couldn’t believe how many people stopped to see if they could help. We’d like to thank those people and especially to a wonderful young lady and her son, Randy for all their assistance. Also to the special “off duty” police who stayed until everything was resolved. We will be forever grateful to each of you.

Many thanks,

SAVE THE WEIR

(wêr),n. a dam built up in a stream for catching or penning fish.

Associate Editor of THE WAYNEDALE NEWS,

This was seen in THE PAPER, in the Wabash County on June 10, 2003. Just thought some of you might be interested in this issue and want to write letters or make phone calls. Let’s not let another piece of the American Indian culture be destroyed. It is a wonderful place to visit. There are some very good feelings that come when at the weir.

Dear Editor,

For years, children from surrounding area schools have been coming to the Eel River, just west of the bridge in Laketon, to see the fish trap built by the Potawatomie Indians. Now the DNR is talking of tearing it out because of a logjam. A logjam can be removed; the fish trap cannot be replaced. Let’s not be as passive as we were about saving our covered bridge. Please write or contact the DNR to save the fish trap, so future children can marvel at the ingenuity of the Indians.

Respectfully,

Evelyn Trickle
