To the Citizens of Waynedale, Indiana,

I want to thank everyone who donated items for the Portage Creek Camp Association (BSA Troop 44’s Chartered Organization) Humongus Garage Sale AND everyone who shopped at our sale at the Scout Cabin at the corner of Lower Huntington Road and Ardmore Avenue.

We didn’t price most items in the sale but offered them up for donations instead. You the public did not try to cheat us or take an over-advantage of our “make us an offer” prices. We sold a lot of things and made enough money to pay for our electric/water/insurance bills for a few more months. We feel that this is your Scout Cabin and you are helping us provide a place for your Scouts to meet. We hope to continue being a part of Waynedale’s history.

Not many people know that Troop 44 has been around since about 1940 and maybe even before that. They once met at the old Waynedale Elementary School before building a cabin on their donated land. In the past they have been aided by such organizations as the Waynedale Lions Club, Maxwell’s Tree Service, American Legion Post #241, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #241, and many others in our community. We thank you all for supporting us and giving our/your boys a place to meet and a chance to become Eagle Scouts.

The items that were not sold were donated to Girl Scout Troop 850 for their upcoming garage sale/fund raiser. Troop 850 is considering holding their weekly meetings at our Scout Cabin. In the future we will be considering sponsoring a Cub Scout Pack and a Boy Scout Explorer Post as well.

The public is welcome to visit our Boy Scout meetings which are held every Monday night from 7pm to 8:30pm year around, Summer and Winter, except when a holiday falls on a Monday or Fort Wayne Community Schools are called off because of bad weather.

Thank you again Waynedalers,

Signed,

Portage Creek Camp Association and BSA Troop 44
