THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT
When I talk to people about the way Major League baseball used to be played, many are amazed. All Sundays were double-headers and all holidays were also double-headers. At that time many games were played in around 2 hours so a double-header could be played in around 5 hours. Some people even ask if there were extra charges for two games.
The other day the Cubs night game was rained out at Atlanta. This was handled by day-night games. Years ago some situations like the above were scheduled by a twilight double-header, starting at 6:00pm.
Parks many times opened one and a half hour before the start of the game. Fans had a chance to see batting practice and infield drills.
I believe years ago the teams really cared about the fans. And that’s the way I saw it.
