READING AT MAPLEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Editors Note: This essay came to us from Ephraim Smileys’ reading class at Maplewood Elementary School.
The most important thing being taught is reading. Why is reading so important?
Reading helps us learn about the world. Reading helps us learn about things we like to do. Reading is essential to learning about Social Studies, Science and Math. My favorite thing about reading is to learn to use bigger words. I also want to improve my fluency by increasing my speed, improving my tone of voice, expression, accuracy and my phrasing. Most of the students in our school have some kind hobby. One way you can become a better reader is to read about your hobby. Some extracurricular activities in our school are basketball, fishing, swimming and the Garden Angels Club.
