I’d be surprised if you didn’t know Alex Cornwell. Armed with his affable grin, you can depend on him to be involved at any major Waynedale happening like the recent Christmas Wreath Auction or upcoming Easter Egg Hunt. He most likely had a hand in helping organize the event, either brainstorming

Recently I was invited to speak at a conference attended by directors of extended care facilities and retirement communities. According to them, many retirees have a strong desire to put their life stories on paper before they pass away so that the lessons they learned in life can be handed down to
There are many reasons why a person should love and embrace the Christmas season here in Waynedale. One of them is Waynedale’s little white-framed chapel service along Old Trail Road, where a Hallmark Christmas will happen.
The chapel was built in the late 1850s. It is a pre-Civil War structure built

Then there were Christmas lights on the stores, and
On December 6, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School preschoolers through 4th graders performed in the annual Christmas program with both a matinee and an evening performance for fellow students, staff, families and friends.

My son, Scott, and his wife, Janalyn, lived with us for a while this summer after graduation. His job didn’t start until September, and it gave us a chance to get to know Janalyn. Our life was quite a bit different from how she grew up. She had never canned food before, and she soon learned the
We’re just about ready to open the door to 2017, so you might be thinking about some New Year’s resolutions. What’s on your list this year? More visits to the gym? Learning a new language? Mastering the perfect beef bourguignon? All worthy ambitions, of course, but why not also include some

Over 60 projects were started and completed in 2016 and more than 30 projects are still in progress.
I wrote this article for The Waynedale News’ Christmas edition ten years ago, but I think it’s worth another turn around the block. This is a story that truly puts me in the holiday mood.

The spirit of St. Nicholas was alive and well at Born Again Quilts as we celebrated the patron saint of children, merchants, repentant thieves and many other groups. It would be pretty fair to say he is the patron saint of everyone! If visitors thought they were going to meet a “St. Nicholas”
