DEAR WAYNEDALE READERS,
I want to share with you some exciting activities that are making Fort Wayne a great place to work, live and raise a family.
We recently dedicated the City’s new Three Rivers Trail Marker. The marker provides a downtown location for citizens to park their vehicles and get out to walk or ride bikes on the rivergreenway. The area is located along Spy Run Avenue in front of the City’s Water Filtration Plant across from the Old Fort. The trail marker project was completed by city employees from several departments. I encourage you to use this valuable recreational resource.
Our team of city employees is committed to providing the best possible customer service. The City Street Department is in the middle of the leaf pickup season. If the weather cooperates, we plan to finish the week before Christmas.
The demolition of flood-damaged homes has begun. The City was awarded two grants in July from the federal government to purchase and demolish several flood-damaged homes. The City and Maumee River Basin Commission are continuing to work to find more grants to purchase additional homes in the future.
I recently was the keynote speaker for two important events in Indianapolis. I spoke at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Fall Board of Directors Meeting, and the Indiana Water Environment Association Annual Conference. It was a pleasure telling several hundred people about the great things happening in Fort Wayne. Our City is setting the standard for a bright future. Our commitment to infrastructure, economic development, downtown, parks, and neighborhoods makes us very competitive as we look to bring new businesses to our community. We are working to hard to build a better city that will promote job creation and retention.
