FREE FISHING WEEKEND

Indiana’s Free Fishing Weekend is June 8-9, 2002. Load up the car with friends, family and fishing poles this June 8-9 and enjoy a free weekend of fishing. Indiana resident adults do not need a fishing license to fish on public waters during Free Fishing Weekend. Children under the age of 17 do not need a license at any time. Many parks, reservoirs, fish and wildlife areas and public forests will host Free Fishing Weekend events, such as fishing derbies, clinics and fish cleaning and cooking classes.

Some locations in the Waynedale area hosting events this year are: – Chain O’ Lakes State Park, Albion 260-636-2654- Elkhart County’s Oxbow County Park 219-535-6458- Huntington Lake SRA, Huntington 260-468-2165- Ouabache State Park, Bluffton 260-824-0926- Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty 574-656-8186- Salamonie Lake, Andrews 260-468-2124DNR property information: www.in.gov/dnr/ no license is needed during free fishing weekend, all other fishing regulations are still in effect. Individuals who need reasonable modifications for effective participation in Free Fishing Weekend events should contact the property at least 72 hours before the event. Or, call the Division of Fish and Wildlife ADA Coordinator at 317-232-4080.

NOTE: Once again THE WAYNEDALE NEWS will be giving out FREE fishin’ poles in the Waynedale Park at 12noon after the Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 27, 2002 during WAYNEDALE DAYS. The fishin’ poles are on order; let’s hope they arrive in time for you to take advantage of INDIANA’S FREE FISHING WEEKEND on June 8th & 9th. The poles will be equipped with hook, line, sinker, and bobber. All you need to do is dig a few worms from the garden and ‘GO FISHIN’. As in the past we will give the fishin’ poles only to adults accompanied by a child under 12. Please, only one pole per person; if you have more than one child then please accept your pole and go to the end of the line; we only have 100 to pass out.

 

EARTH ADVENTURES PRESENTS WALDEN KAYAK DEMOS WITH INSTRUCTORS FROM QUIET WORLD SPORTS AT FOX ISLAND

Join professional paddle instructors from Quiet World Sports to learn paddling techniques and skills. They will join Earth Adventures to help you test out Walden Kayaks. The program is at Bowman Lake at Fox Island County Park from 1pm to 8pm on Thursday, May 16, 2002. For more information contact Earth Adventures at 424-1420.

 

“INSECTS” PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM AT FOX ISLAND

Bring your preschooler out to Fox Island and get to know the tiny residents of the park. The program is at the Nature Center from 10am to 11am and again at 2pm to 3pm on May 23, 2002. Dress for the weather in case we go outside. There will be a craft and snack provided. The cost of the program will be $3 per person. Reservations are required.
